So, by some bizarre twist of fate I find myself as a captain of my own tribe. Now, I wasn't expecting this to happen in any sort of way, as I was thinking "well, everyone seemed to like Dave or respect Alex", so I figured that one of or both of them would end up being captains. But hey, when I got picked as a captain and got to pick my tribe I looked at the cast and thought of now only how I would see things, but how others would see things. For that reason, there was no way that I could pick THREE other people from Hispaniola. I picked Dave because I knew I could trust him and he's typically strong in challenges, and I picked Tracy because she seemed like she would've worked with me in Hispaniola if the cards were right, and she's again, no slouch in challenges.
This way, I have 3 people from Hispaniola on one tribe, but it doesn't become painfully obvious that all of the Hispaniola people might be looking out for each other. If I picked Peih Gee, I could be screwing over Alex, Judd, and Lydia, and putting myself in a bad way as well. I picked Stephenie because of the connections she must have with the rest of the Volcano Islands people seeing as she's a former winner. And also, if we lose early, she can be voted off as a threat. I mean, she won her season, so I have to think that she's some sort of strategic threat and that she has a brain of some kind in her head.
When it comes to picking the three people from Easter Island, being Ken, Penny, and Kelly G, I looked at three people who not only seemed to be relatively good on their season with what they can do, and neither of them seemed to talk to each other all that much. What picking those three does is it makes them feel somewhat comfortable in that there's 3 of them on the tribe, which is the same number of people from Hispaniola. However, since they don't seem to be all that close with each other, I can use that to my advantage and possibly work with a couple of them in the future. I'm hoping I set this tribe up right and that it helps me out in the future.
